Prof. Aldo Eugenio Calogero began its research activity in the first half of the 80s, publishing a thesis on cultures of human Leydig cells. In the 80s and 90s he conducted numerous research on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis regulation, in Catania and Bethesda (USA). Later he focused his scientific activity on Andrology and Reproductive Medicine. In particular, his research focuses on: hypogonadism (hypergonadotropic, hypogonadotropic and late-onset hypogonadism); male and couple infertility; oxidative stress and reproductive function; Y microdeletions; sperm aneuploidies; Klinefelter syndrome; varicocele; cryptorchidism; erectile dysfunction; premature ejaculation; MAGI (Male Accessory Gland Infections); Peyronie's disease; benign prostatic hypertrophy; correlation between lifestyles (smoking, alcohol abuse, mobile phone, air pollution) and changes in conventional and non conventional sperm parameters; correlation between metabolic diseases (diabetes, obesity) and changes in conventional and non conventional sperm parameters; endothelial dysfunction, endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) and erectile dysfunction; ultrasound parameters of male accessory sex glands; PCOS.
