Expected Learning Outcomes

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
The Integrated Course provides students with basic knowledge of the main internal medicine pathologies.
The topics will be covered with particular attention to the approach to the symptoms of the main diseases, defining the useful elements for prevention and for correct lifestyles through the maintenance of optimal psychophysical condition.

Basic knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance at training activities is mandatory, with a minimum of 75% attendance at face-to-face teaching activities.

Detailed Course Content

Family and Physiological History

Genetic Pathogens, Infectious Conditions, Lifestyle and Eating Habits, Birth, Breastfeeding, First Bodily Functions, Schooling, Puberty, Pregnancy, Childbirth, Postpartum and Breastfeeding, Physical and Intellectual Activities, Appetite and Eating, Thirst and Fluid Intake, Alcohol Use and Smoking Habits, Sleep-Wake Rhythm, Bowel Movement, Urine Output and Urination, Sexual Activity.

Physical Examination

General Physical Examination (Psychic and sensorium, decubitus, facial appearance, skin color, basic skin lesions, body temperature, nutritional and hydration status, superficial lymph nodes, muscular system)

Respiratory Diseases

Upper airways and conduction, pulmonary circulation, respiratory failure, bronchial asthma, dyspnea, cough, COPD, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism

Cardiovascular Diseases

Chest pain (heart attack and angina pectoris), arrhythmias, arterial hypertension, heart failure, stroke and transient ischemic attack, chronic peripheral arterial disease.

Diabetes Mellitus

Classification, epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, acute and chronic complications, lifestyle management

Dyslipidemias

Classification, epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, complications

Digestive System Diseases

Pediatric Ulcer, Liver Cirrhosis, Pancreatitis, Celiac Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease
