Tenure-track Assistant Professor of PSYCHIATRY [MEDS-11/A]

Carmen Concerto is a Tenure-Track Researcher (RTT) in Psychiatry at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, University of Catania, and a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Psychiatry Unit of the “G. Rodolico – San Marco” University Hospital in Catania. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience and has obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification for the position of Associate Professor in Psychiatry.

She has conducted research at Seton Hall University and Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine in the United States, establishing national and international scientific collaborations. Her main research interests include non-invasive brain stimulation, with a particular focus on transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), as well as mood disorders, schizophrenia, and behavioural addictions.

She is the author of numerous scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and serves in editorial roles for international scientific journals.

She teaches Psychiatry across several degree programmes at the University of Catania, including the Degree Programme in Medicine and Surgery, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Techniques, Nursing, and Speech and Language Therapy. She is also a member of the Faculty Board of the Postgraduate School of Psychiatry and of the PhD Programme in Translational Biomedicine.
