About us

The Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, active since November 1, 2014, brings together faculty members from various scientific-disciplinary areas to develop common teaching, basic research, clinical, and translational research activities. It includes specialists in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Respiratory Diseases, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Gastroenterology, Occupational Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Child Neuropsychiatry, Medical Oncology, Clinical Pathology, Hematology, Bioinformatics, Rheumatology, Food and Dietetic Sciences and History of Medicine. In these fields, the Department's research activity benefits not only from the specialized expertise of each area, but also from interdisciplinary dialogue, an essential requirement for achieving significant scientific results, as evidenced by collaborative publications among different groups. The number of active international collaborations within the Department is of good standing, as demonstrated by the number of contributions published with foreign co-authors.

The Department hosts intensive pre- and post-graduate training activities, organized into five Degree Programs, eleven Specialty Schools (Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases, Geriatrics, Respiratory Diseases, Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Occupational Medicine, Emergency-Urgency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Child Neuropsychiatry, Medical Oncology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry), a PhD program in Translational Biomedicine, and Second-level Master's programs. In these activities, the multidisciplinary philosophy produces important results, as demonstrated by the quality of seminars, congresses, and scientific update sessions organized by our faculty and open to PhD students, research fellows, and undergraduate and graduate students.
The Department also represents an important reference point in the clinical-healthcare field, thanks not only to the leading role played by the various healthcare facilities affiliated with it, but also to the constant outreach activities through continuing medical education (ECM) courses open to the community.
