Expected Learning Outcomes

Intended Learning Outcomes (Dublin Descriptors)

1. Knowledge and Understanding
The student will acquire basic knowledge of the neural networks involved in cognitive processes and the scientific foundations of art therapies. They will understand the theoretical principles and methodological bases of plastic-figurative mediated interventions in psychiatric settings.

2. Applying Knowledge and Understanding
The student will be able to use plastic-figurative mediation techniques within psychiatric rehabilitation projects, contributing to the planning and implementation of interventions consistent with therapeutic goals.

3. Making Judgements
The student will develop the ability to observe and interpret patients’ behaviors and expressive productions, linking them to cognitive and relational processes, and to select appropriate intervention strategies based on the clinical context.

4. Communication Skills
The student will be able to use effective verbal and non-verbal communication methods, including expressive tools, and to interact appropriately with patients and the multidisciplinary team.

5. Learning Skills
The student will develop autonomous learning skills aimed at continuous updating on scientific evidence related to art therapies and psychiatric rehabilitation interventions.

basic knowledge of SNC anatomy and physiology, neuropsychological functions and normal and patologic mental process (mandatory)

Detailed Course Content

 Visual analysis (geometric models, depth perception,  brightness, objects recognition, visual memory, visual analysis and motor activity,  space and action representation, body scheme, practical organization, visual and spatial coordination, neglect phenomenology, reward, executive functions, attentive processes, perception and agnosia). The graphic arts in psychiatric rehabilitation:  psychoanalytic, cognitive, narrative, systemic-relational approach. Atelier. Techniques of graphic performances. Role of art-therapist.

Learning Assessment Procedures

Learning assessment may also be carried out on line, should the conditions require it.

Oral exam. Elements to be evaluated: relevance of the answers, quality of their contents, ability to connect with other topics within the program, ability to report examples, quality of technical language, and overall expressive ability.
