Expected Learning Outcomes

1 . Knowledge and Understanding

The course aims to introduce students to the main organizational models and care planning methods in obstetrics and neonatal care, with particular attention to the management of obstetric emergencies. The concepts of continuity of care, organization of perinatal and neonatal services, neonatal transport, elements of health statistics, and the main guidelines of scientific societies will be explored. Organizational models in family planning clinics and at various levels of care will also be covered.


2. Applying Knowledge and Understanding

Students will be able to apply the organizational models learned in the planning and management of obstetric care, adapting them to different clinical and organizational contexts. They will be able to contribute to the continuity of care between the community and the hospital, even in emergency situations, and use scientific evidence to appropriately respond to the health needs of women and newborns.


3. Making Judgements

Students will develop the ability to critically evaluate different organizational and care models, identifying the most effective and efficient solutions. They will be able to participate in healthcare service reorganization processes, taking into account available resources, guidelines, and the needs of the population served.


4. Communication Skills

Students will acquire advanced communication skills useful for working within multidisciplinary teams and ensuring effective integration between different levels of care. They will be able to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, patients, and caregivers, promoting continuity of care and comprehensive care.


5. Learning Skills

Students will develop independent learning skills that will allow them to continuously update themselves on organizational models and innovations in obstetrics and neonatal care. They will be able to integrate theoretical knowledge, scientific evidence, and clinical practice, progressively improving their organizational and professional skills.
