NEUROPSICHIATRIA INFANTILE E NEUROCHIRURGIA
Module NEUROCHIRURGIA

Academic Year 2025/2026 - Teacher: FRANCESCO CERTO

Expected Learning Outcomes

The aim of this course is to acquire knowledge and skills related to epidemiological data, classification criteria, semiological and clinical characteristics, diagnostic procedures, and principles of therapy for the main neurosurgical pathologies.

Special consideration will be given to various neurosurgical conditions that can alter the patient's mental state or that may require psychiatric rehabilitation during their pre- and post-operative course. The psychiatric aspects of certain neurosurgical pathologies will also be investigated.

Course Structure

Lezioni frontali con discussione di casi clinici.

Required Prerequisites

It is essential for students approaching the teaching of neurosurgery to have a foundational knowledge of the anatomy of the central nervous system. It is also recommended that students are proficient in the principles of pathophysiology related to the central nervous system, particularly concerning the dynamics of cerebrospinal fluid circulation and intracranial pressure. Additionally, it is advantageous for students to be familiar with mental examinations, the application of neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic testing, and the main psychiatric disorders.
