MEDICINA FISICA E RIABILITATIVA E PSICOLOGIA CLINICA
Module CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY

Academic Year 2025/2026 - Teacher: PASQUALE CAPONNETTO

Expected Learning Outcomes

1. Knowledge and understanding

At the end of the course, students will acquire solid theoretical foundations related to the main clinical intervention models, developing a clinical reasoning framework capable of addressing the complexity of different intervention contexts and the specific demands arising from them. Students will understand the close connection between clinical practice and scientific research, as well as the importance of systematic practices of intervention monitoring, evaluation and critical review.

2. Applying knowledge and understanding

Students will be able to consciously apply intervention techniques consistent with specific psychological reference models and to manage the different phases of the clinical process, from initial observation and exploration to feedback and shared definition of the intervention, including its possible implementation. Particular attention will be given to skills related to the initial phase of intervention and to the evaluation of effectiveness.

3. Making judgements

The course fosters the development of independent judgement and reflective abilities in the assessment of clinical issues and in the selection of appropriate intervention strategies, promoting a critical review of the core concepts of psychological intervention and a comparative understanding of similarities and differences across different demand contexts, within an integrated clinical approach.

4. Communication skills

Students will develop professional communication skills in conducting clinical interviews, providing feedback and sharing evaluations, and communicating with clients and professionals, using appropriate technical language and supporting team-based work.

5. Learning skills

At the end of the course, students will be able to autonomously update their knowledge, integrate theoretical contributions with scientific research findings, and develop methodological competencies consistent with evidence-based clinical practice, supporting continuous learning and professional development.
