The expected learning outcomes are those indicated by the Dublin Descriptors for the degree program in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Techniques (TeRP).
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
- Acquire fundamental knowledge of Mental Health Services, their territorial distribution, and the main laws and regulations that have shaped and continue to shape their evolution, vision, and mission.
Knowledge of the objectives of "territorial proximity" and proximity to users, especially in terms of the possibility of intercepting and preventing mental distress and psychiatric disorders. Knowledge of the organizational models of rehabilitation intervention in various healthcare facilities. Knowledge of the role and function of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Technician within the organizational landscape of Mental Health Services, especially with a view to integrated, multidisciplinary intervention and coordination between Services and other authorized local agencies (local authorities, judicial offices, and the non-profit sector).
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
- Acquisition of the ability to transfer theoretical knowledge into operational engagement within Mental Health Services.
Acquisition of the ability to operate both in the clinical rehabilitation setting (therapeutic-rehabilitative interventions) and in social and/or educational settings aimed at strengthening appropriate and functional social behaviors (social or work-related training groups, collaborative strategies with various local agencies). Acquisition of the ability to identify and describe pathological processes and the treatment opportunities or needs of the issues being addressed, appropriately correlating them to the specific social, family, and institutional contexts. Acquisition of the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, respecting their roles, recognizing their dynamics, and contributing to the planning of global rehabilitation interventions by defining priorities and appropriately using resources.
MAKING JUDGMENTS
- Acquisition of the ability to manage rehabilitation programs and assess their appropriateness to the context, services, and available or programmable resources.
Acquisition or implementation of the ability to independently assess the clinical and organizational context, responding to individual and collective needs and the need to contextualize them. Implementing the ability to self-criticize to resolve difficulties and reach the most appropriate clinical and organizational decisions within the rehabilitation and care process for clients.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively and appropriately with clients and family members in order to strengthen the therapeutic alliance.
Ability to interact and communicate positively and effectively within the multidisciplinary team. Ability to interact and communicate positively and effectively within the work network, extending it to other local communities where necessary.
LEARNING SKILLS
- Ability to actively and independently seek new scientific evidence and maintain ongoing professional development on the evolution and innovation of Mental Health Services, their organization, and the ongoing implementation of their function, in response to the changing needs of the local community and the social context.

Lectures supported by slides and videos.
Extensive opportunities for classroom interaction and
group discussion on the topics covered.
Given the lack of
comprehensive textbooks that cover all the topics in a single volume,
attendance at all lessons is strongly recommended.
Required Prerequisites
Useful are the basic notions on Psychiatric Rehabilitation, on the
epidemiological aspects and on the social implications of the main psychiatric
pathologies, on the care relationship and on the operator's training.
Attendance of Lessons
Attendance of at least 70% of the scheduled lecture hours is mandatory
in order to be eligible to take the final exam for the individual subject.

Learning Assessment
Learning Assessment Procedures
Assessment is conducted through a final oral exam, with a grade assigned on a scale of 30 (a passing grade will be awarded for grades ranging from 18/30 to 30/30 with honors). This grade is designed to assess the students' individual level of preparation. Assessment takes into account the relevance of answers to the questions asked, the quality of content, the ability to connect the topics covered in the program, the ability to provide examples, the student's command of technical language, and their overall expressive ability.
To take the final exam, students must book and attend at least 70% of the class hours scheduled for this course.
Assessment may also be conducted online if unforeseen circumstances require it.
