SCIENZE INFERMIERISTICHE
Module Risk Management in Ostetricia

Academic Year 2025/2026 - Teacher: Lina Maria GUELI

Expected Learning Outcomes

1. Knowledge and Understanding

The course aims to provide students with the basic knowledge needed to understand the complex actions required to ensure safety and quality of obstetric care. The concepts of clinical risk in obstetrics, the causes of the increase in obstetric emergencies, and the main related clinical conditions, including obstetric shock, intrapartum hemorrhagic shock, uterine rupture, and postpartum hemorrhage, will be explored in depth.

2. Ability to Apply Knowledge and Understanding

Students will be able to apply their acquired knowledge to early recognize risk situations in obstetrics, adopting appropriate interventions for the prevention and management of emergencies. They will be able to contribute to the correct implementation of care protocols in critical conditions, such as uterine atony and obstetric hemorrhage.

3. Independent Judgment

Students will develop the ability to independently identify and assess risk factors and potentially critical situations, making timely and effective healthcare decisions. They will be able to minimize harm should an adverse event occur, in accordance with professional expertise and clinical protocols.

4. Communication Skills

Students will acquire communication skills to operate effectively within a multidisciplinary team during obstetric emergencies. They will be able to collaborate with other healthcare professionals, share information clearly and timely, and contribute to the coordinated management of critical situations.

5. Learning Skills

Students will develop independent learning skills that will enable them to continuously update themselves on guidelines and best practices related to safety and clinical risk management in obstetrics. They will be able to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience, progressively improving their skills in the prevention and management of emergencies.
