Andrea Domenico Praticò

Assistant Professor of GENERAL AND SUBSPECIALTY PAEDIATRICS [MED/38]

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Catania, School of Medicine, M.D.,  in 2007, dis-cussing a thesis on Pseudohypoparatiroidism 1a, earning a grade of 110/110 cum laude. 
In the years 2008-2013 he has attended the Residency in Pediatrics, at the University of Catania, earning the specialization in Pediatrics in February 2013, after discussing a thesis on Autoimmune Hepatitis (grade 70/70 cum laude). 
From March to September 2017 he has been a Clinical Research Fellow at King’s College of London, (King’s College Hospital and St. Thomas Hospital), studying in particular genetic epilepsies and sleep disturbances in Pediatric ages, having as a tutor Professor Deb Pal.

He earned a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the University of Catania, with a thesis on Neurofibromatosis type 2 in Pediatric ages and on the therapy of Bevacizumab for such disorder. 
He is a member of the Italian Society of Pediatrics and of the Italian Society of Pediatric Neurology; for this last he is member of the directive council, for the years 2018-2021. He has been also a member of the Brit-ish Pediatric Neurology Association and of the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom (n. 7582656) since 2017.

From June 2018 he is a “Type A” Researcher at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine of the University of Catania, Section of Pediatrics and Child Neuropsychiatry. 
His research field is mainly pediatric neurology, with particular interest in neurocutaneous disorders, meta-bolic disorders, epilepsy and sleep disturbance in childhood.
