Learning Objectives

The basic objectives of the course are to learn and improve the English language, with special attention given to the semantic and pragmatic of the disciplinary language. The course will give the necessary tools to understand and analyze authentic original texts in English to meet the students’ everyday needs.

The disciplinary objectives are to develop the four communication skills (speaking, reading, writing, understanding) using an interactive approach.


Detailed Course Content

The course includes exercises, starting from simple phrase to more complex phrases in increasing difficulty. Grammatical and syntactic structures in relation with the context in which can or must be used will be studied. The four communication skills (speaking, reading, writin and, understanding) using an interactive approach will be developed. The exercises and activities dealt with during the lessons are present in the textbook suggested which contains articles and materials of scientific disciplinary interest.

The final exam will include a written part (in English). The students will be tested on the following units: A (Basic Grammar Units), B (Texts for Chemistry Students).
