Learning Objectives

  • Internal Medicine

The main objectives of the course are as follows:

-To provide essential knowledge on the physiopathology of the acute and chronic diseases (e.g. chronic intestinal disease, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, pancreatitis) and to identify their relationship and inter-dependency.

-To apply these skills to the full spectrum of diseases in human.

-To develop the transferable skills on acute and chronic diseases (including physiopathology, oral communication with patients, team work, decision making during diseases) between students and patients.

  • Pharmacology

The aim of the course is to provide a specific knowledge of the mechanisms of action and side effects of different classes of drugs used in commonly occurring pathologies, as well as of drugs affecting food intake and metabolism. Furthermore, attention is given to drugs acting on digestive system, tio antibiotics and to the interactions between drugs and nutrients. The content of the course is shortly outlined below.

  • NUTRITION IN METABOLIC, CARDIOVASCULAR AND RENAL DISEASES

To provide knowledge for nutritional and therapeutic management of patients with metabolic, cardio-vascular and kidney diseases.
