Learning Objectives

• Graphic rehabilitative techniques

  To know the scientific bases and the therapeutic and rehabilitative potential of graphic-pictorial techniques. To provide a method to activate a channel of communication through graphic-pictorial abilities. To develop the student's ability to observe and guide patients in the laboratory setting.

  1. Acquire notions of the main rehabilitation techniques based on dramatization (theatrical, film, photographic) and their use in the rehabilitation field.

  2. Develop skills related to the design of a therapeutic-rehabilitative intervention based on the techniques being taught.

  Theorires of perception. Visual processing. Bottom-up and Top-down processing. Face patches and processing. Reductionsm in art and analysis of learning and memory. Emotional system. Pareidolia. Mirror neurones and art. Colours and brain. Art in depression and schizophrenia. Electroencephalogram and creativity. Art in dementia. Drawing in autism and in the blind. Neuroimaging correlates of graphic arts. Default network. Application of the graphic-pictorial project in training, prevention, reintegration and rehabilitation in mentally disabled subjects. Expressive modalities of thinking and personal experiences through the non-verbal language of visual and plastic art. Symbolization of thoughts and emotions. Self-recognition and self-understanding process, environmental interaction. Definition and role of the art therapist: materials preparation in a protected environment, relaxation, assessment of the relational context. Evaluation of results and corrective feedback.

Art therapy in Italy and Drama therapy: state of the art and evidence of effectiveness. Theories and models of psychiatric rehabilitation: models and interventions of SST. Neuro and socio-cognitive remedial models and interventions. Tools for assessing psychosocial functioning and neurocognitive functions. Dramatic process theory: play and drama, structure and elements of the dramatic process. Theory of creativity. Creativity in Art Therapy. Drama therapy. Moreno's psychodrama, playback theater, social theater. Training in Art Therapy. The role of the drama therapist. The therapeutic function of theater. Cinema and its therapeutic function. The use of the cinematographic medium in the rehabilitation field: cineforum, participatory video, cinelangage. Phototherapy and therapeutic photography: applications in the rehabilitation field.
